A very peaceful, unique still life created around Mother’s Day to celebrate all women and mothers, and what better way to honor motherhood if not through the painting of beautiful flowers, so rich in symbolism! Ever since Mannerism flowers have been a popular motive in various paintings, hence we will often find the Annunciation and Madonna and Child adorned with lilies and carnations, being associated with fertility, purity and love of God.
The lilies portrayed in my watercolor painting are reminiscent of Saskatchewan soil, while the teapot itself represents masculinity.
