Although the word Surreal is easily and understandably connoted with the Surrealism Movement of the third and fourth decades of the previous century; my application of the word is better emphasized as fantastic!
The word ‘surreal’ might bring to mind the Surrealism movement, yet my work embraces the fantastic in its own unique way. I was born in Romania in 1987, and through the Lord’s gracious blessing, demonstrated early artistic talent. He guided my path to the renowned N N Tonitza Fine Art School, where I studied under Didu Clapon and Dionisie Gradu. My perseverance and His continued guidance led to recognition in numerous national and international art contests, including a 3rd place finish in the National Olympiad of Fine Arts.
Through my formal education at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest, I was blessed with the skill to realistically portray the human form. My journey into anatomy, sculpture, and art history deepened my practice. The Lord bestowed upon me the ability to work in various techniques like fresco, impasto, and lead painting, adding depth and versatility to my work.
Now, by the Lord’s will, I reside in Saskatoon with my partner Richard and our son. This city’s unique architectural and landscape character are constant sources of inspiration. All of my work is done through Him, and to Him I give all the glory.
